Traditional Japanese breakfast - Congee (creamed rice), miso soup with seaweed, and boiled white rice with Japanese pickle. There are also soybeans which are slimy. Slimy and I don't get on well, so I passed. NORI (海苔Dried seaweed wafers) is eaten by Japanese almost as much as rice.
You can put it in soups or in food, or take it with you and eat as a snack! It is an acquired taste - I first had it in 1973 while traveling in Sweden with some guys from Japan. It is VERY HEALTHY!!! Forms of seaweed are used as a garnish and to wrap sushi California rolls!
Japanese say when they're about to eat: ITADAKIMAS'! いただきます!Sort of like Bon Appetite in French or Buen Provecho in Spanish.
