FARENHEIT 451 Events predicted in that gloomy novel may one day come to pass.
Not now, because the older generations still value books as a means of storing knowledge and culture. But there will, I believe, come a day in the distant future when books are no longer printed - and all extant tomes have crumbled to dust in long-forgotten libraries.
It is then that the sum total of Mankind, at our fingertips in an instant, can be deleted EN TOTO - instantly - by a simple electronic action, computer virus, or electromagnetic pulse.
If this comes to pass, once again, we as a civilization will be forced to begin anew. Maybe THEY, those of that Brave New World, will get it right ... at long last!
